My Favorite Books!

Books About Asperger Syndrome

"The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome"  By, Tony Atwood
By far, the most comprehensive book about Asperger's Syndrome!

"Asperger Syndrome and Adolescence" and "Asperger Syndrome and Young Children" By, Theresa Bolick
Both are VERY good reads and VERY informative!

"School Success for Kids With Asperger Syndrome"  By, Stephan M. Silverman and Rich Weinfeld
A must have gift for any teacher!

"Look Me in the Eye"  By, John Elder Robison
A wonderful autobiography!  He is fun to get to know in Facebook also!

"Special - Needs Kids Eat Right" By, Judy Converse
This book is by a dietician who noticed eating and digestion pattern in her autism patients.  GREAT read for parents whose kiddos who are "addicted" to carbs!  I am going to have my son read it someday when he is older and can start making dietary decisions on his own.

"Sensational Kids" and "The Out of Sync Child"  By, Lucy Jane Miller
Such good information on sensory processing issues.

I have not read "The Out of Sync Child Has Fun," but I bet is is also great!

"All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome" By, Kathy Hoopman
I read this book to my son when he was in 3rd or 4th grade without showing him the title.  He did not know he had any diagnosis at the time.  He was overwhelmed that anyone could know so much about him!  He asked me how she knew him and I told him that the author is a mommy of a boy just like him!  He immediately smiled and said, "You mean there are other boys just like me?  Wow!  Can I meet him?"  It gave him such hope that he was not alone!

...and last but not least...The book that first introduced me to the word, "Asperger's"...

"The Mislabeled Child" By, Brock and Fernadette Eide

Coming at a later date...Books on Dyslexia and ADHD...
